Not about being fair…about being competent. Do you know that students in other countries can all speak English?

You should look at it as a good thing. Besides, spanish is used quite a lot and can be very helpful. And yeah, students of other countries have to take English in their younger years, and sometimes even a third language.

I honestly DON’T like it but I also know it is a GREAT preparation for you out in the “Real World” today..So you will someday be grateful you know a second language and it may open doors for you professionally..So.. REMEMBER Don’t sweat the petty stuff and don’t pet the sweaty stuff!!..lol..Keep your chin up and be glad you are getting a education at all..

i wouldn’t say that it is fair. But if you live somewhere where it is spoken it might be a good idea. Still, it should be optional and not required seeing as how many people who come from Mexico refuse to learn English yet they want us to all speak Spanish not really sure i understand that argument. Also, the most common language spoken in the world is Mandarin Chinese so go figure as to what languages we should be learning.

No…it’s not fair. Bilingual education should be offered to everyone, not just certain children in SOME schools. Having to learn another language will give you a definite advantage over monolingual English speakers and so in that sense it is not okay. I also agree that maybe you should be able to “choose” a language but consider the fact that maybe the school’s offering Spanish because it’s the language most people in your community speak (other than English). Now go off…and think about just how lucky you are to be learning in a different language. Think of how many more customers you’ll be able to cater to, how many more business deals will be open to you, how many more places you’ll be able to travel, just because you were offered the opportunity to learn in a language other than English.
