I taught my three children to speak Spanish as they were growing up. It has been a tremendous advantage for them in everything they do. My oldest,24, is living in Peru and working for an NGO.
I understand that you want your daughter to just pick up the language, but that will be hard for her to do from just watching television. She will need a rich and varied learning environment with video, music, books, games and travel to Spanish speaking countries. To be honest, it is a lot of work to teach children a second language, but it is also incredibly fun and worth the effort. I have shared some of my ideas and materials for teaching children Spanish on my blog at http://www.spanishplayground.net I wish you the best of luck!
