I don’t think you should try to master Spanish and then go Korean. It’s a waste of time…I say take Korean. Spanish is quite easy to pick up. I learned Spanish perfectly through my family, TV, and writings. You can do the same.
It’s better to learn Korean in school then on your own. As a person pointed out, you will eventually have moments where you struggle with it. As for Spanish, I bet you have cool friend who knows Spanish fluently.

Korean is a local language.It is not much use outside Korea.Learn Spanish and you will learn to love it.

There will be far more opportunities to learn Spanish than Korean after you are out of college, so theoretically you could take advantage of those chances to learn Spanish later (but would you?). There will be fewer opportunities to learn Korean after you leave college. You already know that Spanish is more practical if you intend to stay in the US. I would encourage you to follow your heart. If you would prefer to study Korean now, take advantage of that opportunity while you have it. You never know what it may lead to. (For example, I have a Chinese girlfriend now, which I never would have had if I had not studied Chinese.) But if you want to be more practical and advance your ability to speak Spanish, which you know will open doors for you in the US, that’s good, too.

Why waste the 3 years you already have of Spanish. Besides, you weren’t to concerned with learning anything in highschool, you were to worried about your social life. With 4 more semesters of Spanish you’ll be able to have espanol conversations. Also, Spanish is one of the top four languages spoken in the world. Being able to speak Spanish will make your value as an employee skyrocket. You will be 100% more marketable.

I’ll echo previous comments. I studied French years ago (5 years from Jr High to High School) and found very limited use for it in the U.S. Spanish on the other hand is in common use in South Florida, the Southwest, California and in growing numbers in other places (Georgia for example now has a significant hispanic population). In future years the ability to speak Spanish will likely be very important.

If you’re taking the course to learn something you want to learn, then take the Korean. If you’re taking a language because it is a requirement of your degree, check to see whether the actual requirement is for several semesters of ONE language. If you have trouble with confidence in Spanish, what makes you think you could handle Korean, with a drastically different set of sounds you would have to learn, on top of words that are not even remotely like what you are familiar with.

You can always learn Spanish first and once you feel comfortable being able to converse in that language, then learn Korean. In this global community we live in those who are multilingual (able to to speak at least two or more foreign languages) will be more marketable than those who are not polyglots.
