    Hello,

Not that I have seen. It is natural to start understanding before you are able to shoot back phrases or thoughts.

I am fluent in Spanish and studied French and Latin.
I do not care for the internet in learning a language other than to memorize your verb tables and some gramatical theory. One needs a classroom, teacher and especially interaction with others to gradually become more and more proficient. Human nature being what it is, if you get stiffled on line or have some difficulty grasping something you put it aside for a day, which turns into a week, a month and perhaps you never get back to it. A classroom for grammar drill and personal interaction are the only ways to go in my experience.

By the way, do not buy that nonsense of ” Learn Spanish or Arabic etc in six weeks.” It will not happen. You may learn to say a beer please, where’s the washroom, how are you, but I can assure you you will not be able to give a 30 minute oration in that language on events that led up to the American revolution or defend yourself in a court of law.

    Regards,

    Michael Kelly

1.Watch the news in Spanish. This is a good exercise because you will always have a context. Watch the film as you listen to the story.

2.Watch Spanish-language films. You can read the subtitles and listen at the same time.

3.Eavesdrop. When you hear people speaking in Spanish try to understand what they are saying to each other.

4.Be fearless. When you are in a setting in which you can use your Spanish just do it. Most Spanish-speakers are glad to help and happy you are trying.

5.Look for things written in Spanish in your home (e.g. instructions for appliances) and see how much you understand. This is a good way to learn new vocabulary.
