I do believe that through tv you can PRACTICE your spanish and maybe, learn some expressions. But, to understand the grammar? That needs classes.

I actually had a Spanish teacher who learned English through movies. Of course it’s possible! Immersion is far, far, far, far better than the junk they call “foreign languages” in high schools right now. Trust me, there is no comparison between hearing and reading real Spanish (or any language) and studying from a text book. The only thing that will get in the way is laziness…you have to force yourself to read the Spanish subtitles (not English :) and learn from the books instead of just skimming. You will have a much better understanding at the end of the day if you push yourself.

Yes, you can! you have a higher chance because you took spanish classes previously. one time i met a girl who learned how to speak spanish fluently just by watching “novelas” which are spanish soap operas. she didn’t even take classes!
it was amazing, i didn’t think it was possible, but it is.
its much more fun than reading a bunch of books (:
Another benefit is that you learn the “slang” & less proper way of speaking that are used in everyday life (:

Good luck! Spanish is a beautiful language & not so hard to learn (:

Put subtitles on that way you can understand what is being said and read it at the same time. You will be able to pick up phrases that are said often on game shows and soap operas but you won’t get all of it. Watch their actions and try to put it all together at the end with the stuff you do understand. It will definitely help though!!Good luck! I agree that you do need more grammar practice with classes that way you can understand why things are said the way they are.
