Learn Spanish Today

Today’s modern society has become both multiracial and multilingual and being able to communicate confidently has become key to both business growth and social growth.

One language that has increasingly grown in importance is Spanish, hence why many people are beginning to learn Spanish as much for business as personal use.

Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world, after English, (although a large number of Chinese would disagree!) and is spoken by approximately 500 million of the world’s population. Twenty nations use Spanish as their primary language and many more as their secondary language, including the United States. In the 2006 US census 44.3 million of the population were originally Spanish speakers, this meant that the US had grown into having the fifth largest Spanish speaking population in the world.

Many people start to learn Spanish so they can be more involved with the communities in which they live or to improve the working environment because their workforce includes a number of Spanish speakers. It is common, nowadays, for companies to have Spanish language programs for their sales staff in order to reach a large and very often untapped Spanish speaking section of the market.

For the individual though, the thought of learning Spanish can be daunting, as the speed at which the language is spoken seems, and is often portrayed, as being frighteningly fast. This is not the case, Spanish, as with all languages, can be broken down and understood with practice and the easiest way to do this is through using interactive Spanish courses

Many linguistic purists believe that it is more important to first learn the basics of a language, the grammar, the construction and the correct usage before moving onto practical communication, others, however, have contradicting views believing that to learn communication first, using practical application will make learning grammatical basics so much easier. It all depends very much upon your reason for learning a language.

Most people learn Spanish so they can speak to their Spanish speaking friends or to improve the quality of life and co-exist better in areas with a large Spanish community but whatever your reasons are for wanting to learn Spanish always remember that learning another language is an important and an enjoyable step in your personal education opening new horizons and therefore enriching your life.

This is great! and it’s true… Spanish is spoken by like half the world. In 2007 I had the opportunity to live in Spain for the year and it changed my life. Tapas en Granada! I’ve also come across lots of great resources, and my friend Olivia is a Spanish teacher, she put together some great video lessons and a free dvd for a small handful of people. Whatever you do… Keep learning Spanish, you won’t regret it!
