How are some ways i can learn Spanish on my own?
Kathleen asked:
Next year I am going into Highschool & I am going to take a Spanish class. Everyone says it is a very hard class & the teacher is very mean. I mean i heard some pretty smart people only got B’s & C’s…and i’m kinda of scared..because I am already doing Algebra 2 as a freshman & Idk if i will be able to handle it all.

well you can buy a book about spanish. or if you have a spanish friend you could ask them for help. maybe watching spanish dramas or channels help if you have subtitles with them. or read simple spanish books so you can expand your vocabulary and knowledge. or get a tutor. once you know the rules to spanish its fairly easy. like the first thing you’d learn is like conjugating verbs and knowing the difference between the words estar, and ser. but i suggest you get a book or notes that someone took in spanish class. but its not a big deal. i take spanish and this is like… my 4th year taking spanish. once you know the rules and vocabulary you’ll do fine.

The best thing you could do is start on your own so that you’re somehow more familiar with Spanish grammar and some vocabulary. If I were you, I’d check out these websites and see which one you find more friendly. Then start working.
On the other hand, you heard not very nice things about this teacher. You shouldn’t be afraid but responsible and do what your teacher asks you to do. There are different kinds of intelligence which means that someone may be bright in Maths but not so good at languages, or this person may excell at Art but still be weak at Music. Those really smart people who only got B’s or C’s may not be that smart in the area of Languages. So give yourself the chance to start a new subject with an open mind and expect to do your best. That’s what really counts in the long run.

Sure there is – all you need to do is get a Spanish course and use that to build up some knowledge.
Courses such as Rosetta Stone or Rocket Spanish have been designed for people in your position, who just need to get their feet on the ground and get some knowledge of the Spanish language. They don’t get you to the point of “fluency” but they do give you a strong basis of knowledge and information which should leave you being able to speak confidently.
I would suggest trying a course like those mentioned above. They are pretty expensive for a student (the cheapest is $100) but if it’s what you want – it’s totally worth it.
